On a Bank Holiday

So today was a Bank Holiday here in London. This means of course like any holiday tons and tons of people out and about. Oh and especially since it was SUNNY and WARM today. Since this was my last ''free'' day so to speak since classes commence this week, I walked and walked...oh and walked. I went for a run yesterday around this tiny little park down the street from my flat (haha I said flat). So when you haven't ran in over a month, don't try and run 5 miles and then proceed to do lunges and jump squats. This = IT band issues up to ying yang. But I digress...

Did I mention that Primrose Hill is probably my favorite little borough so far? Oh and did I also mention that I found a Bikram Yoga studio there also? Yep. Granted I can only afford to do the 20pounds for 20 days deal since a monthly membership would cost me my life...but hey; I'll take 20 days of Bikram.

It's so fancy here I feel a little out of place to be honest. I have my ''going out'' clothes but how the heck do these women around here walk around these cobblestone streets in heels??? Maybe there's a heels and cobblestone class I can take.

So the Queen got something right with these parks. They're HUGE and unbelievably gorgeous. Ponds with boats you can rent to paddle around if that's your thing. Or read a book on a grassy knoll with a bottle of wine (which everyone here does btw....seriously.....everyone drinks; like all the time). It so tranquil it's almost cliché. You literally have to remember to stop and smell the roses. Now I know where that saying comes from. (Seriously...smell the roses cuz they smell frickin bomb. I mean they belong to the Queen for cryin out loud. Makes me think of Alice and Wonderland and painting the Queen's roses red. Ooops I digress again)...

Anyways I figured that since I walked about 6 or 7 miles that I deserved a blended hazelnut coffee thing and an Earl Grey cupcake from the Primrose Bakery (duh). I also found a flyer for The Cake & Bake Show 2013. Ummmmmm I freaked out a little bit. Here's some scenes from my Bank Holiday Promenade...(oh and I'm posting my first paparazzi shot here too because I think it's the funniest thing ever)

Oh yeah, that's me right behind ''reading'' a book.

The line for the Sherlock Holmes Museum was cray cray.

Too bad Sylvia Plath's books are a bummer...

Get outta here London with your quaintness...that I just love.

I had to take a rose cupcake to go for later...I mean obviously.

Early Grey cupcake

GOING.
Treat yourself to something sweet today and have a proper brew.

Ooooh boy...

Miss Jordy left today to leave me by my lonesome. I must admit it was a little weird not getting on the plane too. We said our farewells (I might have cried on the tube back...), I went to the grocery store (I found a new one that's basically like a superstore which automatically made me feel more at home) and bought some of my usuals to last me a while (talk about $$$$$$$$$$ here. Holy moly man). Greek yogurt and I actually found CHIA seeds at another organic health food store (for $18 US dollars BTW but worth it to me). -Shout out to my SRC peeps who know how much I LOVE Chia.

School registration is this Friday which I'm totally stoked for. That means I will be realllly busy very soon. Once I get my schedule I will be lookin for a little part time job. I'm allowed to work a max of 20hrs pw here on a student visa (which is plenty considering my MA will take up all of my time anyways). There's a little local running store (HOOOLLLLLAAAA!!!) about 1.5 miles away from where I now call home so I'll try applying there; which would be hilarious.

So for those of you who are interested in seeing my new pad...here's a few pictorals for your viewing pleasure. (This is probably the most I'll ever spend on rent. EVER. Thank you/not thank you student loans.

My fancy room. Complete with artwork.

 Washing machine/dryer/table/stools/clothes line
 Outside the door.
My window is the one in the middle on the end

Have a proper brew today.

The British Museum in all its glory

These are hats. Super sweet.

More hats.

I think I will just let all these things speak for themselves. That's a lot of pictures I know. I had to choose my favorites even. Oh and did I mention that the British Museum is FREE? Oh yeah. Not many things in life are but this is one of them. If you are ever in this part of the world I would highly recommend stopping in.

There are still sooooooo many things that I want to see. I can already say that I wouldn't want to live in the hustle and bustle of London forever. Jordy and I are going to try and pop up to Bath and Salisbury here in the next day or two to see what the English countryside has to offer. I am so grateful for this opportunity and I cannot wait to see what school has in store. (A little nervous......yeah maybe). Till then, make sure you get a good sweat in today and have a proper brew.

Fancy Things

So Buckingham Palace was just as fancy as it looks. We arrived to find hundreds and hundreds of people lined up across the streets, climbing on statues and fountains to seemingly catch a glimpse of the Queen herself. Or perhaps even D.O.C. Princess Kate and the new Prince. To our amusement it was just the changing of the guards. Which apparently is a BIG to do around here. It was still very cool to watch don't get my wrong! We were of course hoping to get a glimpse of the new Prince and Princess. Ah well...till that fateful day; make someone else laugh today and have a proper brew.

Along Abbey Road

Who would have thought we'd actually make it to Abbey Road? Not I! So let me just say that it really is as cool as it sounds. I mean even though it's tricky trying to dodge traffic in order to get the ''perfect'' Beatles shot, it's so worth it. Jordan actually contemplated arrest and deportation in order to run up the studio steps since the gate was OPEN. However she quickly came to her senses. You walk along the cutest neighborhoods you've ever seen in your life to get here. For us it was about a 2 mile walk from where we are staying and around the famous St. Johns Wood.

We also popped into a little tea shop (duh) called Yummacha. Ummmmmmm it's amaze. Matcha Peach smoothies and every wonderful tea combination you can think of. Plus it's the cutest damn place you've ever seen and added bonus.....free Wifi. We're off to see a movie tonight so till then; have a pleasant evening and have a proper brew.

p.s. I got a bank account set up, sim card for my phone (which hopefully works) and maybe even a room to rent! God is good!
